7 Dad Approved Recipes for Father’s Day!
It is almost Father’s Day and summer everyone! Father’s Day always comes at me so fast, but I do love to celebrate it because dads are so important. I will say that I find it nearly impossible to choose a gift for the dads in my life since they seem to have what they need, or it’s just something so random that I’d have no idea what they’d like.
If you are in need of any ideas on what to make, look no further! Here’s my list of delicious father’s day recipes perfect to celebrate any dad in your life!
Cocktails:
One of my husbands favorite cocktails is an old fashioned, an Old Fashioned is a timeless cocktail made with bourbon or rye whiskey, a touch of sugar, Angostura bitters, and a twist of citrus peel. Served over a large ice cube, it’s smooth, spirit-forward, and elegantly simple—perfect for sipping slowly.

Another option would be a whiskey sour, a whiskey sour is made with whiskey (usually bourbon), fresh lemon juice, and a bit of simple syrup—super easy to make!. The flavor is all about balance: a little sweet, a little tangy, and just enough kick from the whiskey to keep things interesting.

Dinner:
If you’re looking for a low-effort, high-flavor dinner that feels just a little bit fancy, these steak and rice chimichurri bowls are it! Think juicy, seared steak sliced thin over fluffy rice, drizzled with a bold, herby chimichurri sauce that brings the whole thing to life. Add some sautéed or roasted veggies on the side (or whatever’s hanging out in your fridge), and you’ve got a bowl that’s colorful, satisfying, and way easier than it looks, perfect for fathers day!
This Moroccan Spiced Salmon with Lemon Yogurt Sauce is one of those meals that tastes like you spent hours in the kitchen—but really, it’s just a quick spice rub, a hot pan (or oven), and a cool, herby yogurt sauce to balance it all out. The salmon gets coated in warm Moroccan-inspired spices—think cumin, paprika, coriander, maybe a little cinnamon—then cooked until perfectly flaky with a little crust on the outside. The herbed yogurt sauce is tangy, fresh, and cooling, kind of like a flavor reset button with every bite.
Brunch:
Sausage and Cheddar Strata: this hearty, make-ahead casserole layers savory sausage, sharp cheddar, and chunks of crusty bread soaked in a rich egg custard. Baked until golden and puffed, it’s crispy on top, soft in the center, and packed with comforting flavor. I’m a huge fan of strata’s! Especially when cooking breakfast for a crowd!
Chilaquiles: I think I made chilaquiles for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two weeks when I was pregnant with my third child (and I’m still not bored of them!). Chilaquiles verdes are a vibrant Mexican breakfast dish made with crispy tortilla chips simmered in a zesty tomatillo salsa verde. The chips soften slightly in the sauce while keeping some crunch, creating a perfect balance of texture and flavor. Topped with crema, crumbled queso fresco, fresh cilantro, and often a fried egg or shredded chicken, it’s a bright, comforting dish with a citrusy kick and just the right amount of heat.
Dessert:
In my youth (lol), I used to believe that lemon had no place in desserts and would always go for rich, chocolate or caramel based desserts. But my husband loves a lemon bar and I’ve come around to them!
These lemon sugar cookie bars are soft, chewy, and bursting with fresh citrus flavor. Made with a buttery sugar cookie base and infused with real lemon zest and juice, each bite delivers the perfect balance of sweetness and tang. Topped with a light lemon glaze or a dusting of sugar, they’re a sunny, simple treat that feels like spring in dessert form!
